Tip #4: Check for Charity Pricing
Tip #4: Check for Charity Pricing
Sometimes it's hidden in the small-print, other times you have to ring up and ask, but 90% of the time, software companies will have some kind of non-profit or charity price discount.
Whether you're subscribing to online software (SaaS: Software as a Service) or paying a one-off software licence fee, most companies are happy (-ish) to provide a disount to charitites or non-profit organisations. Sometimes they'll require that you're officially registered with the Charity Commission or they might want to visit your website and have a look for themselves. In any case, software companies know that they can attract long-term customers with a discount that recognises the work charities do and your non-profit status.
Confirming that you're on a discounted charity plan is a good step in checking through your organisation's software and digital services. Make a list of the software and services you use, and start checking your invoices. If you don't see a discount applied, or the price is the standard one they offer to everyone, start digging. What have you got to lose? You could save hundreds of pounds each year.
To help you get a grip on your digital resources and remind you to check for charity pricing, I've created two useful resources for you:
Your Technology Audit Workbook
Download and print your own copy of my Technology Audit Workbook. A quick tool to help you sort out your digital tools & resources and spot areas where you could save money.
Of course, there's a handy tick-box that reminds you to check you're on a discounted price.

Do you need some regular help?
I've recently launched an On-Call Subscription where you can have your very own digital expert (me!) on call for less than the cost of a decent plumber. Save on my usual hourly rate, and spend your digital budget on your services, not the consultant!
Get 2-6 hours of support a month, starting at £100.
That's a saving of £10 off each hour, compared to my usual rate!
In any case, if you need a bit more support, feel free to give me a shout and let's have a chat about how I can help your charity, non-profit, community interest company or group.
Until next time,
Kevin
