Steve leaves, and we love him!

Hi Friends,

Big news. Our wonderful dummer and amazing friend Steve Landey unfortunately had to leave the band. He has moved to Seattle with his lovely wife and child to begin a new chapter. Steve told us that when he first moved to San Francisco, all he wanted to do was to be in a band and put an album out. Ironically, he drove away on the day the album was released. Steve was an incredible asset to this band and the creation of this album. He was the person behind the buttons during mixing; he was learning as he went, and the quality of this record is a testament to his genius! He put all of his heart and soul into this band and we want to thank him for all he did for Chaos Fiction. He is pictured above sweetly hugging the bubble wrap we used to make the album cover art and which he subsequently used to wrap all his things in for the move.

It was a lengthy process, but luckily we did find an incredible new drummer and we will tell you more about them in our next message. For right now we want to say THANK YOU STEVE and wish him well in this new phase of life in Seattle!

NorCal indie favorites come together for a genre-hopping celebration of new releases

Albany, CA — October 9, 2025 — The iconic East Bay independent live music venue The Ivy Room hosts a multi-genre night of indie artists when four beloved Northern California bands hit the stage to celebrate three new album releases.

The evening opens with singer-songwriter Deborah Crooks' warm voice and blend of emotionally intelligent and cinematic Americana music. She has released multiple recordings under her own name and with the Alameda-based band Bay Station, some of whom will accompany her for this show. Her most recent projects include the bird-themed folk opera “Flight Lessons” and a forthcoming release, I was Yours. She will perform songs from the new record at the Ivy Room.

The Stratospheres follow with their infectious mix of retro rock ’n’ roll, surf and twang, astro and proto-punk – Lucinda Williams meets Lou Reed. Led by singer/guitarist songwriter Stephanie Siehr, with drummer Liz Stuart chiming in on backing vocals, the Grass Valley/Oakland-based trio’s songs explore timely and timeless matters of heat waves and train tracks, laundromats and love. This show celebrates the Bay Area release of their new CD, Hot in Here.

Witch Dick then cast their spell with the debut of their “Floral Couch” EP. Sprung from the Grass Valley/Nevada City indie scene, the band is the brainchild of Annie Kendall and Sasha Soukup. The two friends bonded over their mutual love of 60s garage rock and alternative guitar noise, and they enlisted their partners Harry Collins and Chris Streng to complete the rhythm section. Fans of Television, PJ Harvey, La Luz, and fuzzy West Coast surf rock will be turned on by their witchy, mystical vibes.

Noise-pop trio Chaos Fiction tops off a memorable night by celebrating the vinyl release of their debut album "Steady Nerves." Linda Moody (guitar/vocals) and Tori Fulkerson-Jones (bass) began playing together since 2016 in the bands Excuses For Skipping and Fleetwood Macrame.  Quarantined together during Covid times, they wrote a bunch of songs together and this new project was born. Steve Landey (drums) rounded out the trio in early 2023. Their music weaves psyche rock, shoegaze and noise rock influences, and showcases their tight pop-influenced melodies, dreamy vocals, chaotic noise and energetic driving basslines.

Doors open at 7:00pm and the music kicks off at 7:30pm. Ages 21+. Buy Tickets for $15
