Review Your Own Work
Heya! 👋
Today I wrote about reviewing your own work, an important trick for holding yourself to a high bar and respecting the time of your coworkers. This is a key skill for any senior or staff+ engineer!

What's going on
My team just finished up a large body of work at Sotheby's as Q2 comes to a close - Implementing an Apollo Federation Gateway in front of our GraphQL monolith to facilitate the introduction of GraphQL subgraphs. It was a lot of work to make this a smooth transition, but now comes the hard, long-tail work of growing the adoption of GraphQL Federation and breaking up our monolith.
Coming up in Q3, we'll be working on completing a migration from Jenkins to GitHub Actions by moving our Bazel build process over and spinning down Jenkins entirely. I'm really looking forward to digging into the details of Bazel and hopefully spending some time improving our build caching story.
If either GraphQL Federation or Bazel is interesting to you, hit me up on the socials or in Rands Leadership Slack. Would love to chat!
