How Platform Engineering Works
Hello!
It's been a while since I posted on my blog. Since my last post, I started working at Sotheby's as a Staff Infrastructure Engineer on the Platform Engineering team. I have really enjoyed this role, as it has given me the opportunity to deep dive into developer experience, developer productivity, and infrastructure - all things I really resonate with.
Today I posted a new blog post titled "How Platform Engineering Works". In it, I share the key learnings I have taken away from my first year working at Sotheby's. I gave this as a talk at DevOps Days 2023 in Birmingham, Alabama, which is only about 2 hours away from my home. A few of my friends also came, and some familiar faces from DevOps Days in 2022.
This was my first ever public conference talk. I've given many internally at different places I have worked, including many at Sotheby's since I have been there, but I wanted to keep pushing myself. I plan to keep trying to give at least 1 public conference talk a year to share my experiences more broadly and meet people outside of my bubble.

Blogging
During my time at Sotheby's I have been blogging internally to the company on Confluence, sharing my thoughts and experiences in an attempt to encourage others to do the same. I've decided I want to share as much of those on my personal site from now on, too. So hopefully you'll hear more from me 😅
