October 2022 ⁂ Sweet 16
Hey all,
Earlier this month marked the 16th anniversary of my blog, which means I've been blogging for almost half my life. Those 16 years have consisted of 953 posts across various hosting services, on a variety of topics. I've never been a consistent diarist, but somehow I've managed to write multiple posts a month for many, many years.
The blog abides. Thanks for reading.
On to the links...

1. My recent posts
Recent Views - Do you have memories or do you just watch a lot of home videos?
In praise of microhistories - A small (in scope) but mighty form.
Maybe join a book club instead - Things you can do besides letting politics poison your brain.
On the arts as blunt instruments - What if art doesn't serve your political philosophy?
2. From the interwebs
A coder recreated the "digital rain" from The Matrix. A flautist playing Lord of the Rings music in a giant tunnel. Folding clothes is a scam.
3. Currently
📖 The Writing of the Gods: The Race to Decode the Rosetta Stone by Edward Dolnick
📺 The Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended editions!)
🎧 Mean Girls: Original Broadway Cast
4. Quote
"To be an artist, you don’t have to compose music or paint or be in the movies or write books. It’s just a way of living. It has to do with paying attention, remembering, filtering what you see and answering back, participating in life." — Viggo Mortensen
5. Question
What is your favorite compliment you've ever received?
— Chad
