September 4 @ 6-8pm Community Conversations - Climate Action at The State Theater

The Borough of State College, The Borough's Sustainability Department, and the Center for Alternatives in Community Justice (CACJ) invite you to the third event in their 2024 Community Conversations Series. The topic will be: "Climate Action & Resiliency: A Global Topic Viewed Through A Local Lens." Get a chance to ask questions and help create a more sustainable and healthy community through this community survey where you can also register.

September 18 @ 12 - 1:30pm Sustainability Showcase Series – Photographer Tim Palmer at Foster Auditorium – 102 Paterno Library

Award-winning photographer, author, and Penn State alumnus Tim Palmer will join us for a public talk and book sale/signing to discuss his latest book “Seek Higher Ground: The Natural Solution to Our Flooding Crisis”. Visit Penn State Sustainability Showcases for more information.

October 9 - Active Transportation Plan Open House

Save the date! Centre County MPO would like to inform you of the upcoming Active Transportation Plan Open House. They will share the draft plan for review and comment after several months of work with guidance from the Active Transportation Steering Committee. Additional details will be provided in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

  • Your Voice Matters - One Vision for 2045: What do you want the community to look like in 20 years? Take the Comprehensive Plan Update survey and do the mapping exercise to ensure the plan reflects your needs, priorities and aspirations. A comprehensive plan outlines a community's vision for its future development and growth.

  • FEEDBACK WANTED! The Centre Region recently applied for Bicycle Friendly Community status from the League of American Bicyclists! The League is seeking your input to gain a better understanding of local bicyclists’ experiences in the State College area (Townships of College, Halfmoon, Harris, Ferguson, and Patton and the Borough of State College).

Tools and Resources

  • Keystone Energy Efficiency Program (KEEP) Home Energy Loan financing program was developed to help Pennsylvania homeowners afford energy efficiency upgrades and reduce energy costs. You can also search for approved contractors who are familiar with the new financing programs.

  • PA Small Business Energy Financing program is also now open to provide financing for energy efficiency improvements for businesses and non-profits.

  • Visit Go Solar in the Centre Region to learn about the steps involved when installing solar.
