CAAP adopted

It is my great please to announce that the Centre Region Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) was unanimously adopted by the COG General Forum on November 22, 2021. The CAAP full report, executive summary and infographic can be found here: https://www.crcog.net/caap

The CAAP builds upon existing policies and programs with 82 actions to be taken by the community and local government to meet our goal of a 45% reduction of community-wide GHG emissions by 2030. Implementing the actions will also help ensure the Centre Region remains a resilient and thriving community, for current residents and for future generations. Local government’s role will be to lead by example, foster partnerships, create policy, and help disseminate information.

The foundation of the Plan has been built upon community input received from a region-wide statistically valid survey, a community-wide forum facilitated by Penn State, and countless meetings with CRCOG’s Climate Action and Sustainability Committee, General Forum updates, and hundreds of postings on social media.

What's Next? The completion of this plan does not mark an endpoint, but rather the beginning of a long-term effort. The CAAP provides a roadmap for a more sustainable and resilient future. More on the implementation phase in 2022!
