The Crone: Queen of Space
Well, here we are. Welcome to the new home of The Crone. Substack recently went a little too Nazi for my ethics. They literally promoted Nazis. I had to go.
There should be no change for you. I’ve imported your email addresses. You might have to press a button to say this is okay, but the pain should be minimal.
What’s happening right now is two fold. I’m RETIRED now. What does this mean? In my case, it means I am working as an adjunct teaching part time, until I can get my social security. IF I can get in social security. At 62? 64? All part of living in “interesting times.” I won’t talk about Bryon’s IPERS and how Iowa is thinking about rescinding Robert Ray’s reward for people who have devoted their lives to public service. Perhaps it is better to say I am mostly RETIRED for as long as I can be, in a currently dystopian future.
That said, the other thing that’s going on is Bryon and I are auditioning new places to live. Wherever our future lies, and it could even be outside of the U.S. (re: dystopian future), we are exploring new places to live during the next phase of our life.
Strangely enough, our first audition will be Orlando, Fl. We’ll be in the Kissimmee area for a couple of months. While there are definitely things we aren’t sure about (red state, weather), there are things we really like (amusement parks, immersive acting community, friends, and well, a city). Two months should give us time to have some fun AND time to get bored. Getting bored in a place tells you if you really want to be there or not.
While we are in Florida, Halcy-con is happening. Bryon and I are doing some paneling there, including a workshop talking about how to use interpersonal interaction in role-playing games. I’ll be leading a panel on Halcyon Legacy projects, including the recently completed Passenger Manifest.
I hope you are doing well, given the times. The most powerful thing we have in this time is community and support. I’ve been thinking about all of you.
Until next time, when I talk more about arty stuff…
