New A7 print project: Raw Materials
Following on from the 2023/24 Setlist zine series, Raw Materials is my next project for Ink-Paper-Sound. Created from discarded, unfinished things found at home and in my studio, these A7 booklets bring together words from the back of scrap paper, elements from abandoned graphic scores and offcuts from linocut printmaking. As with the Setlist zines, when making these I was imagining them as starting points for improvisation, hoping that they could be some kind of raw kernels for other future live work as well as standing alone. Raw Materials 1 (Deep Sea Hunting) and 2 (Boxes) are available now from the Ink-Paper-sound webshop.
Creatures of Tooth cassette
Out this summer on Madwort Recordings is the debut release by Creatures of Tooth: Tom Ward (bass clarinet) and me (Lyra-8 synthesiser). Mixed and mastered by Martin Clarke, I'm super pleased with this recording! Available as a cassette and digital album from the Madwort Recordings Bandcamp site.
Composite Mashworks
Tullis Rennie and I have been working on our duo over the last few months, planning future work and developing our approach. We now have a name: Composite Mashworks! This feels like an apt handle for what is essentially a giant play pen for us, with electronic and acoustic instruments, objects and interactive cardboard structures all in the mix. Our new video from a recent studio session at SET Lewisham offers a taste of where this project is heading…
