Something that interested me this week
I've been trying to find focusing music this week as it's been a busy one. Usually I try a lot of classical music to concentrate, but the band nerd in me ends up conducting like a fool. A fool, I tell you!
Anyway. I've found some fun music that has really helped me, and thought you might enjoy it:
- FACE by ENDESGA - This one is newly released (coming to streaming services on the 7th) and has just enough empowering moments where I feel like I can code anything, and the perfect amount of melody that it feels like you're following a journey without having to get distracted by what's happening.
- Linda Antas - I first heard her music earlier this summer live, actually, and I rediscovered it this week and it's really... atmospheric. It's like I'm in a forest and in a mysterious building all at once.
- Big Little Lies soundtrack - For those who like words in their music, this soundtrack is fantastic (I also recommend the book, but that's for another day). It's got a great combination of chill and pumped up songs.
- Jason Bolte - This is probably the most ambient of the list. He does a lot of electronic space-y tunes that are in no way distracting, but are nice to have in the background.
Anyway, that's what I listened to this week! I'd love recommendations if you send me a shout on Twitter.
Interview question of the week
Write a small word-counter application that has an input, and tracks the number of characters, words, and sentences in the input. The kicker: you can't use regular expressions or splitting functions.
