Hellooo!

I hope you had a great week! I was very productive and busy, and I’m hoping all the work from this past week will help my future self out this next week. Anyway, onwards!

Something that interested me this week

This past week, by a miracle (and randomly), I figured out my old Neopets account and was able to log in! I had a blast exploring what felt like a treasure trove of memories. It was also really cool to see how far we’ve come web development-wise. Neopets for many people, including me, was such a great place to learn and experiment on the internet with code and art. It made me happy to still see it running, even though it wasn’t the most state-of-the-art corner of the internet anymore.

Sponsor

This week’s sponsor is Datadog!

Create browser tests and monitor critical transactions in minutes with Datadog Synthetics. The simplistic browser test web recorder enables anyone on your team to record multistep tests quickly - no coding skills required. Once a test is created, Datadog’s machine learning capabilities will automatically detect changes in your application and will update your tests accordingly.

Spend less time maintaining brittle browser tests by starting a free Datadog trial today, and receive a free t-shirt after creating one dashboard!

Interview question of the week

Last week, I had you move all the zeros in an array to the end of the list. We had a TON of responses in probably the most languages I’ve seen for one of the questions here! Great work Gabor, Arkady, Ten, Majo, Sophie, Nwosa, Gustavo, Rakshith, Kaveh, Pirijan, Chera, Sreetam, Maxim, Sameer, Ali, Amy, Rafael, Alan, Dom, Leslie, Stuart, Lucas, Collin, Gabriel, Zac, Jay, Jesse, Brenley, Hyeseong, Thomas, Jagadish, Matthew, Ivana, Anna, Kyle, Angel, and Roman!

This week’s question:
Given a string s and a character c, return the number of occurrences of c in s.

Example:

$ numChars('oh heavens', 'h')
$ 2
