Something that interested me this week
This week I flew to visit family, and it got me to really think about how airlines work. Â A lot has to go into it, from scheduling, to ticket sales (pricing and the actual sales), to managing flight attendants and cleanup crews and pilots, to the ability to fly out of certain airports... the more I thought about it the more impressed I was with the (somewhat) smooth process that we take advantage of and don't really notice unless something goes wrong. Â I looked up airlines on
HowStuffWorks, as well as
flight crew information. Â I also read the amazing book
Catch Me If You Can to get some insight, which if you haven't read it, it's so impressive. Â Anyway. Â Something something
what's the deal with airplane food? Â

Interview question of the week
Design a weather app. Include what API endpoints you would need, what information and UI elements should be included, how you would poll for data, how you would pick weather locations in the app, and what technologies you would use.
Extra credit: build it.

Joke
A 13 year old weasel walks into a bar and approaches the counter. The bartender immediately notices the underage weasel.
“Sir, you look extremely young. I can’t serve you even a single beer.”
“Oh c’mon. You can’t just slide me one?”
“Can’t and will not serve to anyone under age.”
“Fine. Well what other things do you have?”
“Well for non-alcoholics I have tap water and bottled water, I have coffee, and I have pop. Which would you like?”
“Pop.” Goes the weasel.

For all you Americans out there, have a very happy 4th of July. For everyone else, hope you enjoy that day too. Be safe, make good choices, and eat some fruit, it's good for you.
