Helllllooooo!

Happy 4th of July to the Americans out there, and happy "start of July" to everyone else! I hope you had a great week. I'm really glad to have a shorter one with the holiday, myself. Internet time!

Something that interested me this week

This past week was a super busy one! I was promoted on Monday, went to a couple meetups on Tuesday, gave a talk at Prisma Day on Wednesday, published a blog post on CSS-Tricks on Thursday, and also played a bunch with GitHub Copilot on my livestream! As you can imagine, the long weekend was a very welcome break.

Text Blaze is a Chrome extension that lets you create programmable text snippets and insert them anywhere in Chrome by typing a keyboard shortcut.

You can start by taking a simple repetitive text that you often write and inserting it anywhere with a few keystrokes. Then you can go much further: Snippets can include form fields like text boxes or drop-down menus, have dynamic fields with formulas, or even parse the content of web pages and make API calls.

Text Blaze is free forever. Get it here.

Interview question of the week

Last week, I had you draw a Pride flag! I loved seeing the creativity of everyone's responses in so many different languages. Amazing work Ritik, Sreetam, Jai, Ricardo, Maxime, Rahmat, Jesper, Dani, David, Augustin, Jay, Rafael, Claude, Zoe, Ten, Aodhan, Ben, Leyan, Weilbyte, and Vanessa!

This week's question:
Imagine your users are all typing slightly incorrectly, in that they shifted their hands one key to the right. Write a function that translates what they mean to say.

Example:

$ translateShift(';p; epe')
"lol wow"

$ translateShift('vtsmnrttu')
"cranberry"

That's all for now, folks! Have a great week. Be safe, make good choices, and watch out for fireworks!
