My week was very busy (I made the mistake of pushing a bunch of events and podcast recordings to this past week, and gave 8 different talks!) but managed to squeeze in some Civ VI time. Onwards!

Something that interested me this week

This week I was so swamped with speaking at events, that my inbox was filled to the brim due to neglect! This resulted in my trying out some tools to try to manage things better.

I tried using hey.com this week to see if that would help me out in this regard (thread of my thoughts here) but ultimately decided against it. It’s fun to try the new trendy tools, but it didn’t solve the problems I was hoping it would.

Similarly, I’m trying out Vimcal to get my calendar organization better situated (so I don’t have another super busy week like last week)! I really love that it has keyboard commands for everything, but the price feels a little steep for what it offers (it’s $15 a month). I’m giving it a trial run to see if it does help me, so we’ll see!

Interview question of the week

Last week, I had you make a fixed list combobox. Great job Matt, Shannon, James, and Ten!

This week’s question:
Given an unsorted array arr of integers and an index n, return a list of medians of the subarrays in arr (where the first subarray is from index 0 to index 1, the next from 0 to index 2… index 0 to index n). Try to do it in better than O(n^2) time!

Example:

$ findMedians([2, 1, 3, 10, 5], 3)
$ [2, 1.5, 2]
