December newsletter
Our reading period closes this month

Six months of Carnyx Press
This little press has now been running for half a year! Thank you to everyone who has followed our journey so far.
2026 brings exciting new steps for Carnyx. We'll be revealing the title and cover of our folklore anthology in the new year, and open for pre-orders in the spring, ahead of a planned launch in early summer.
Provided we hit our development targets, we'll also be accepting short stories for our second anthology. Watch this space!
Reflecting back on the last six months, we've had an excellent journey so far, and have learned lots about managing submissions and growing our reach online. We can't wait to see what we'll learn next!
Open to manuscript submissions
We're still open to submissions of novellas and collected short fiction from writers living in the North of England. We love to read strange and literary speculative fiction, filled with atmosphere and imaginative flair.
We're planning to close our reading period on Saturday 20th December at midnight. This will give us time to read enquiries so far and respond to everyone in January. If you'd like to be considered during this reading period, please send us your work within the next three weeks.
Read the full guidelines here.
