This month I've been reading: Software Design by Example

Samuel Johnson said of Paradise Lost¹ that it…

… considered with respect to design, may claim the first place, and with respect to performance the second, among the productions of the human mind².

That's pretty high-praise.

But it doesn't help with the core problem, which is, How on Earth am I going to read the thing?
