I’ve heard people are upset at the idea of The Winter’s Tale going up in the summer. All I have to say to those people is just pretend we’re in the southern hemisphere. I will not be taking further questions, thank you.
Yup, I’m doing The Winter’s Tale this summer! Barefoot Shakespeare Company is putting ‘er up, and let me tell you, it’s a real treat to be joining this group again.
I’m playing Antigonus and the Shepherd which means I get to exit pursued by bear, and then immediately re-enter and find my own mauled body. That’s acting, baby.
The show will be up on Summit Rock in Central Park for that authentic outdoor experience. Plus since the Delacorte is closed for renovations, we’re as close as you’re gonna get to capital-S-Shakespeare in the capital-P-Park without a sponsorship from the Bloomberg foundation.
Runs two weeks, from May 30th through June 1st, then from June 6th through June 9th. Weekends 4pm, Weekdays 6pm. Tickets… free! Just show up!
-First episode of Art Workers (the podcast I’ve been developing for a minute) forthcoming! Very special first guest is actor and friend Helen Romeu, so keep your ears peeled. She may or may not be performing in another Shakespeare play on Summit Rock the week after ours closes; who can say?
-Happy Mother’s day! To all the mothers out there: good job.
-I saw Stereophonic about a month ago after missing the Off-Broadway run despite everybody telling me in no uncertain terms that I in particular would love it. They were correct, those fuckers, and now the release of the album has got me right back to admiring how staggeringly full the show is of honest-to-god moments of genuine humanity. But also I’m reminded that I need the script so I can start preparing my Grover and/or Reg audition... so... anybody with a secret copy want to secretly give me a secret PDF? Our secret.
Okay, that’s me. Love you!
