We Need Your Eyes on the Charter Draft
Help prepare for May’s charter adoption discussion
🌀 Mesh Dispatch: Organizational Charter, April Recap & May Meetup
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the April meetup — and welcome to the new subscribers. This month marked our largest gathering yet, pairing hands‑on onboarding with a live demonstration of emerging 2.4 GHz LoRa voice capabilities.
Here’s a quick look at April’s highlights and what’s ahead for May 6th.
🌐 April Recap: Open House + 2.4 GHz Voice Demo
April’s session brought 19 attendees — our biggest meetup to date. We kicked things off with a hands‑on Mesh Open House, helping new and returning members flash devices, configure radios, and explore CRM’s recommended hardware lineup. After the break, Alex led a live demo of experimental LoRa 2.4 GHz voice, showcasing real‑time device‑to‑device communication.
🛠️ May Meetup: Structure, Capacity & Collective Direction
Our next gathering is on Wednesday, May 6th, now in The Parlor at the UU Church — a larger room with improved A/V for presentations and group discussion. This month focuses on organizational clarity, collective decision‑making, and spring deployment planning.
- LoRa Working Group Update — Spring progress, MeshCore adoption, and volunteer opportunities
- Mutual Aid Part 2 — How horizontal groups organize and make decisions
- Working Session: Proposed Charter — Consensus‑based discussion of CRM’s draft organizational charter
📜 Community Call to Action: Review the Organizational Charter Draft
We’re excited to share the first public draft of the Capital Region Mesh organizational charter — the lightweight framework that outlines how we organize, collaborate, and make decisions.
This is the draft that will be presented for adoption at the May meetup, and we’re asking everyone to read it beforehand so the group can move smoothly into the discussion.

Our community is growing fast — and the energy at April’s meetup made that impossible to miss. It’s exciting to see so many new people jumping in, experimenting with hardware, and helping shape what CRM becomes next. Thanks for being part of this moment and for helping build something resilient, collaborative, and genuinely community‑driven!
