A Fundraiser Update
Hello everyone! Calvin continues to make good progress each day in his recovery. He has been up for a couple walks around the unit and has been out of bed sitting in the chair for a couple sessions. Continue to pray that each day he will grow stronger and make more progress towards coming home!
Since the first message was sent out a couple of weeks ago requesting financial support for Pastor Goligher's medical procedure in Toronto and related expenses, we have been showered with gifts from many brothers and sisters from all over the United States and Canada and beyond! The outpouring of love and support from the saints has been such an overwhelming encouragement that words cannot adequately express our gratitude. In a very short time, the funds received have exceeded our goals, both in the form of personal gifts directly to us and by way of the Deacons' Fund (DF) to be administered by the church. We praise God indeed for his abundant provisions.
Our Deacon (also Treasurer) at First OPC Sunnyvale, Stan Liao, who has been overseeing this fundraising effort, informed us that giving to the Deacons’ Fund has also exceeded the practical limit. Without going into technical details, this means that any further addition will lose its effectiveness in how the funds can be applied to our situation, and thus we should humbly decline additional giving to the Deacons’ Fund for the present purpose.
Though personal gifts are not constrained by the same technical issues as the Deacons’ Fund we must not presume on your generosity. Therefore, while we appreciate the advantages your gifts will afford, to the best of our judgment the fundraiser should be now concluded.
Once again, we are thankful to you all for your prayers and financial support. You have loved us not only in word, but in deed and in truth. May the Lord multiply his blessings to you!
