Two big shows this week
Hello friends!
I'm excited to check in with you all and let you know about two very exciting things happening in the Calculated Discomfort world this week. This Thursday I've assembled a special quartet to perform some old and new original compositions at Fulton Street Collective, and I'll be stepping out from behind the drums to lead the band on percussion. And this Sunday Calculated Discomfort will be performing at Navy Pier as part of the Chicago Live Festival. I'm happy to be unvailing some of the concepts I've spent the year cooking up on these larger platforms. Details below--hope to see you at one or both!
Tommy Carroll Quartet at FSC 9/19
First up, I'm launching something I've wanted to try for a long time--leading the band as the percussionist, with someone else playing the drumset. Marcos Rios (guitar), Zach Nicholas (keyboards), Jeremy Taylor (drums and I will be performing an energetic set of some classic and unreleased Tommy Carroll compositions. I'm stoked to finally put my percussion experience to work in my own band. The Chandler Browne Quartet will open the night.
8pm at 1821 W Hubbard St, Unit 307.
Full details for Sept. 19 show are here.
Calculated Discomfort at Navy Pier 9/22
I've been looking forward to this one for a while. Calculated Discomfort was honored by being asked to perform at the fourth annual Chicago Llive Festival, which shocases the city's top music, dance, theater and performance companies.
We're on from 1:00-1:30pm on the Lake Stage this Sunday September 22nd. We have a tight dancey set prepared featuring Kyle Werle on synthesizers, Anthony D'Agostino on bass, and Karl Maher on guitar. It's going to be a fantastic way to close out a beautiful season.
