Step into a new sound world (album out now)
At long last, The Harmony of Rhythm is here. This album is not just a glimpse into my musical world, but a representation of how I hear the world as a whole. In a musical landscape divided by genre, many assumptions regarding instrumentation and texture are taken for granted. I hope the sonic combinations and juxtapositions of this record show you a little about how I experience sound and life.
The album was recorded part in a studio, part live at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and part in my basement. Thank you to Dr. Carrie Sandall who both connected me with the fellowships that funded most of the production of the album, as well as for challenging me to think more critically about how disability informs my art. And of course, many thanks to Stephanie Alma, Victoria Boateng, Aidan Epstein, Ian Walsh, Trevor Hill, and Anthony D'Agostino, who all made this album truly special.

Calculated Discomfort II: The Harmony of Rhythm
Every person has a rhythm that gives them personality.
Every rhythm creates an emotional texture.
When you combine people, you get society.
When you combine rhythms, you get groove.
When the rhythms of people and their resulting textures mesh, you have the greatest musical element: the harmony of rhythm.
This album is an exploration of how small and large rhythmic gestures can generate exciting musical forms. The first half focuses on the flow state slight adjustments to pulse can induce and sustain. The second half expands the idea of rhythmic communication to demonstrate how an entire sonic-cinematic adventure can be created from scratch through the harmony of rhythm. I hope it takes you on a journey.
