Getting creative in July
Hello friends!
First off, Raro's first album, "De Tu Miedo Aprendi" (From You're Fear I learned), just dropped today. You can find it on all streaming platforms, and we'll be celebrating tonight at Cafe Mustache with a set at 8pm. This album is seriously epic. Stephanie Alma's words and melodies were powerful springboards for creativity, and we were lucky to work with some great engineers who captured and presented our sound beautifully. This is soul-wrenching Latin alternative rock.

A summer of creativity
Even though we've been having some serious air and water quality issues in Chicago, I'm still grateful for the season we're in. I've been playing outdoors a lot, and connecting with so many people through music and getting to have the relaxed interactions you don't always get to have in clubs.
For working musicians, summer is a wild time full of gigs, money, and burnout if you're not careful. That's why I feel especially fortunate to have opportunities to play creative and original music on top of everything. Sometimes you've gotta make some fast money, but I got into this for the excitement of exploring sound, and I plan to keep it that way.
Following tonight's Raro show at Cafe Mustache (8pm), here are a few cool shows coming up this month.
Tommy Carroll + Trevor Hill duo at One City Tap 7/9
This Sunday July 9th I've got the distinct pleasure of performing a drums + woodwinds duo with my old friend Trevor. We've been doing this since the high school band room days during lunch period, but this is our first time doing the duo in an official concert setting (a bar in this case). I'm excited to stretch out and try some new sounds I've been working on incorporating into my setup. We'll be kicking the night off at 9pm and be followed by a couple young bands making creative instrumental music.
