Fine Motor Skills, a song for every body
New tunes for your weekend!
My sonic tribute to disability culture would not be complete without some sort of tribute to integrated dance. Fine Motor Skills, out now, is a play on words meant to honor both the ridiculously creative ways people with disabilities Devise every day to get from point a to point B as well as the art of integrated dance, which most commonly involves a combination of wheelchair users and non-wheelchair users, but by definition is not Limited to anyone ability set. I strongly recommend looking into Chicago’s own Momenta Dance Company To learn more about this innovative art form. I think the coolest thing about integrated dance is that at the core, the idea is to find a way every body can dance or contribute to a group performance, and I want to continue to bring those ideas into my music. My song features a clip of an interview I did with dancer/ Choreographer Jessica-Jess Martin, Who founded Explore Through Dance and Exploration: an evening of dance, discovery, creativity and fun to spread the beauty of integrated dance.
Bonus: I also included a wonderfully housey remix of me and Stephanie Alma's song Next To Me from Chico (A.K.A. Brenden Cabrera) to set the mood for your parties this weekend.
