Celebrate with Calculated Discomfort this Saturday
Hey all!
I can't believe it, but it's already time for the Winter Clearance Event.
Every year since 2018 I've done a lowkey end-of-year show to celebrate all the good things that have happened before moving onto next year's adventure. The winter clearance name came about when I was asked to do a last-minute Dec. 30th show, which actually took place after my already scheduled year-end show. I think I only had three or four days to assemble the band, and it was mid holidays, so I reached about to a bunch of people with the idea that whoever was available would be in the band, regardless of the instrumentation. It ended up being quite a few people--two basses, two horns, a vocalist and my self--so I called it the the winter clearance event to honor it's kind of random nature, and haven't looked back since.
This year's show will take place at the Agitator Gallery (3851 W Fullerton). Artists will be selling art at the gallery all day, but music won't start till 7:30. There will be an opening set by local funk group Felonious Drunk followed by a set from Calculated Discomfort featuring Erica Miller (cello), Lyn Rye (bass), Karl Maher (guitar) and Stephanie Alma (vocals and percussion).
There'll be some drinks, light refreshments and great company.
Hope to see you this Saturday at7:30pm!
Tommy
