Calculated Discomfort shows this summer!
Hello friends,
It's been a little while. After the release of Prosthetic and related activities, I spent some time focusing on playing my friends' music, and playing a few private events. It's felt great digging into my craft from a different angle, but it's time to get the band back up on the stand.
I'm excited to anounce some upcoming Calculated Discomfort performances, including a headlining concert at Grant Park Summer Dance Series on Saturday August 20th. After having spent some time honing smaller groups, it's time to bring the big band back to the stage. I believe the last official Calculated Discomfort was the Dances for Different Bodies release show, so I'm looking forward to bringing fresh ideas to tunes both new and old.
Here are a few upcoming Events for July and August.
Friday July 22: House Show
Join us for an intimate night where a 5-piece version of the band will take the stage.
- 4605 N Hermitage Ave
- 8pm
- $10-$15 suggested donation
Saturday, July 30th: Jam in McKinley Park
Presented by Calculated Discomfort, join us for a Blind / Visually Impaired Music Showcase / jam session. We'll have some sets lined up, but the mic will be open and the park will be beautiful.
- Taking place outside in McKinley Park on the southwest side of Chicago
- 2-5pm
- Free! Bring your instrument, voice or something to read
Saturday, August 20th: Summer Dance!
This is the big one. I'm honored to be included in Chicago's summer dance series on the main stage in Grant Park. The evening will start at 6pm with an hour of dance instruction by Momenta Dance Company, who will be teaching dance steps and their wheelchair translations. Then the band will take the stage for 90 minutes of fun and action. The dance floor is open and we welcome people of all skill levels (and you're also totally welcome to chill on the sidelines and enjoy the tunes).

Be well and be safe,
Tommy
