A dispatch from Calculated Discomfort Studios
Happy February!
Thank you so much to everyone who has listened to and bought Original Medicine. I knew I was taking a creative risk by putting a solo drum album into the world, so the praise has been all that more meaningful. If you haven't had a chance to listen, you can check out the album here.
I also still have Original Medicine coffee mugs for sale (shipping to anywhere in the U.S.) with Tracy Conoboy's beautiful artwork. You can get one here
Tomorrow I'm releasing a live concert from the vaults for BandCamp Friday! Read about that below and also get a tour of my upgraded home studio.
Have a great day,
Tommy
Live at Steppenwolf out Friday 2/5!
To celebrate BandCamp Friday, when the online music retailer waves its commission to support artists during the ongoing pandemic, I'm releasing a performance recorded two years ago to the day at Chicago's historic Steppenwolf Theater. There was an ice storm that day and it's supposed to be frigid this weekend, so something's clearly right about this. The recording itself comes from a very exciting time in the development of my band and features the only live performances ever of a couple of my songs. We were lucky enough to have my friend Ogi Ifediora singing with us that evening, so this is a more lyrics-heavy set than most of my projects.
The album will exclusively be available on my BandCamp page and for exclusive content subscribers next week.
Take a tour of my studio!
I've made some significant upgrades to my home studio and am excited to be able to do a lot more recording and production going forward. I did a little tour video on Instagram so you can see where many of my ideas originate. Watch it here
