A MAX Update
While it may seem that I’ve been quiet lately, that’s only because you haven’t seen me screaming at my computer.
The good news is this:

Yes, that means what you think it does. My site redesign process is proceeding afoot, and I’m now fully paralleling a new, unseen, redesigned site with the existing bythom.com. I’m not sure I’ve got every detail locked down yet, but I’m getting closer. Moreover, the new sites will be on a foundation that allows for more tweaking and redesigning, as might become necessary once I have your full feedback.
These new sites are fully responsive, dark/light compliant, faster, flexible, clean, and modern. Here’s another example showing what an existing article looks like in the new design:

One thing that’s taking a lot of time is that I’m literally rewriting (or at least re-editing) everything I’ve ever posted (other than news). So I still have a ways to go with that process before I can launch these sites. But filmbodies work is complete (and excitingly new), bythom progressing, and zsystemuser underway.
Which brings us to byThom MAX.
One of the things I’ve learned both from your feedback and from my design and loading process is that I should probably make a few changes to my original byThom MAX idea. Exactly what MAX is has morphed a bit because of that.
For instance, I’ve decided against making byThom MAX the news/commentary delivery platform. News and commentary will stay on my current sites, as appropriate.
Moreover, I won’t be making byThom MAX an ongoing subscription, but rather a one-time membership. Like you, I’m tired of ads popping up everywhere and tracking me, or the alternative of having to keep paying and paying for new content every month.
Given how many of you have expressed that you’ll “subscribe,” I’ve been able to rethink how things will work a bit and move to one-time membership fees (which will still be modest).
What will you get for your membership? A free book only available to members. At least 10 videos and presentations at launch, with more every month. Checklists. Calculators. Picture Controls. Keywords. A 100 clouds that are better than Adobe’s. Nine UniWB files (and growing). Plus a monthly Hangout with Thom stream. And that’s just the start. I’ve got plenty of other things planned, and quite a few surprises for you. I intend to extend and expand the offerings members receive as time goes on (basically as long as I can stay on MAX ;~). But you won’t pay me more for them.
So you’re asking “when”? It’s looking to me something like June/July at this point. That’s because as part of the MAX work, I have three trips scheduled to produce and collect more MAX bits.
