If you are getting this email, you either stopped by my table at PIGCon this past weekend, or you magically found your way to my website on your own.

Regardless, I figured I’d take the moment to introduce myself and my work, as well as let you know what to expect from me in your inbox (rest assured, it’s not too much).

I’m Buddy August Skaggs, an artist and storyteller based out of the Portland area. In my visual work, I use the skills I learned from brand-new Illustration degree (woo!) to make whimsical mixed media pieces, primarily using watercolors.

My main area of interest is in story games. In wanting to expand my skillset artistically, I’ve accidentally stumbled into being a TTRPG designer. I’ve written about 10 games total, which can all be found on my itch.io page. I am also an avid zinester and risograph nerd!

My current game project is called What a Lovely Island. This is a map-drawing and roleplaying game that began as my BFA thesis. Now that I am out of school, I am hoping to start taking steps towards publishing, including eventually hosting playtesting.

I hope to give updates about once a month, and will eventually put out the call via this newsletter to look for players.
