hack the planet | among the cows

Hey y'all,

I hope everyone's week is going well! Mine has gotten better, being able to get to Ireland to see my girlfriend. The trip couldn't have come at a better time either.

butter in Ireland is something spiritual

The YC-backed security startup my cofounder and I founded, LunaSec, has closed its doors, and we have been looking for jobs. It is not a great time to look for a job; our recent job prospects have reflected that. I am also realizing just how rusty I am with the interview game. After a recent rejection, I sent this in response:

Thank you for getting back to me. I greatly appreciate the feedback and agree that the last two interviews were weak. I will now make my plea for why you should reconsider me as a candidate:

For the past 4 years I have been running a startup. Before then, I was at Uber for 3 years where this was my job. I fell short in recalling specific terms and standards, which psyched me out. I could write a full report from memory on everything I missed during the interviews, the mistakes are seared into my head.

I have enough saved to cruise for a bit, but the pressure to find a job is undoubtedly present. In the meantime, I will enjoy being a digital nomad and keep up with blogging and writing code.

  • WebAuthn Basic Web Client/Server - WebAuthn is a password-less auth strategy that I am excited to see more of and want to learn more about

  • Dreamwidth - "an Open Source social networking, content management, and personal publishing platform", looking through the site, it is close to what I have dreamed of for what a social media site should be.

  • The small web is beautiful - Bigger is not always better. I very much subscribe to the small web mentality.
