Support your Local Poetry Community on Giving Tuesday!

Hello Poet!

We are very grateful this holiday season for the constant support and love we feel every Wednesday and all other days of the week from our community - that includes you! Whether you’re a regular, have been to a show just once, or are one of our collaborators or donors, we truly cannot thank you enough for helping Boston Poetry Slam maintain our slams, workshops, and partnerships, as well as inspiring all the individuals who make up the community itself.

We also have big dreams rooted in our investment in the community - we want to provide EVEN MORE programming, increased accessibility, more virtual options, more fun slams/events, more opportunities to become more educated as writers, and better ways to engage across the Boston and Cambridge neighborhoods. We are working towards a vision that aligns with the foundation of slam: poetry should be for everyone.

Our Mission: The mission of the Boston Poetry Slam is to foster new work and new voices in performance poetry, to drive the evolution of the genre, and to promote poetry to the widest and most diverse audience possible using the nurturing environment of the open mic, the appeal of compelling featured poets, and the competition of poetry slam.

We’ve been collecting responses to form this vision via THIS COMMUNITY SURVEY! Fill it out now to let us know what you want to see from us in the future.

This giving season, we’re suggesting you make a donation to help make our goals a reality. This is more than a year-end, tax-deductible gift; it’s an investment in local artists, emerging writers, and creating accessible spaces for poets across Boston. Even if you are unable to donate at this time, we'd still love to hear feedback from you about how we can grow, whether it is through our community survey, our anonymous feedback form, or in person at one of our shows.

How to Give:

Find all ways to donate on our website here, or read below.

  • Donate directly via our Venmo here - @bostonpoetryslam.

  • Cash App, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Credit Card

  • Paypal/Credit Card – Includes the option to set up a recurring donation

  • Cash – In-Person only. Please talk to a staff member at one of our shows and we will provide you with a tax receipt.

  • Check – Please make out to “Boston Poetry Slam Inc.” Our mailing address is: 29 Brainerd Rd #102, Allston, MA 02134

Also, many companies offer to match gifts to nonprofit organizations made by their employees. Most corporations award a 1:1 match, while some elect to provide a greater matching amount to further promote their employees’ philanthropy. Companies will typically match a gift up to a year after it’s made, so even if you made a gift many months ago, it’s not too late to magnify its impact. And if you are married, your spouse’s company may also be willing to match funds for donation as well, further increasing the value of your donation!
