NORTHBEAST BEGINS TODAY!

At long last, it’s time! The NorthBeast Regional Poetry Slam and Festival is upon us. From 7/31-8/2, you can join us in Cambridge to witness an incredible poetry slam tournament and festival - fun for all who love poetry or who may just be poetry-curious. ALL ARE WELCOME and we would love for you to attend!

For those unfamiliar, NorthBeast is the quintessential New England poetry slam event of the YEAR where teams from all over come together in an epic celebration of slam, and it begins THIS AFTERNOON Friday, 7/31 and continues through Sunday, 8/2. It is a multi-day festival that brings together slam communities from across the country to slam, learn, and grow as artists. We are delighted to host poets from SIXTEEN teams across New England and beyond as they compete in a series of slams, culminating in the crowning of this year’s winner🎖. There will also be workshops, open mics, and more! Follow the Instagram, @northbeastregional for on-the-ground updates, but for now, please take a look at a detailed schedule:

This year’s festival spans a much larger area than previous years, including across the Central Square neighborhood, known for its rich arts culture. Please use this handy NEIGHBORHOOD GUIDE to view all programming locations, spots to grab food, and more.
SIGN UP FOR THE NERD SLAM! While all workshops and open mics during the festival are first-come, first-serve, the Nerd Slam is the only event that requires sign up in advance. Have a topic you know EVERYTHING about and want to compete in some lighthearted trivia on Sunday surrounded by fellow poets? Sign up now!
We are partnering with the incredible organization FREEVERSE to put on a killer open mic on Sunday. Get a glimpse of what they have to offer here!
One of the local food spots on Sunday is a pop-up cafe called PAL Cafe, and it is partially put on by one of our community members and photographer for the festival, Winston Liao. Check out their amazing culinary creations on Sunday from 12-3 at 11 Douglas Street!

Slam Adams Season 4 is underway!
After an incredible end to Season 3, crowning Jennifer Martinez the Champion of Champions and electing her to be our delegate we sent to indie regional Blackberry Peach (where she absolutely KILLED IT) we are now at the beginning of a new season. Sign up for the next Slam Adams on 8/4, now by emailing [email protected].

General info about Slam Adams:
Looking for another poetry show? Looking to try out slamming in a low-stakes, highly-supportive environment? Do you like beer of the alcoholic or non-alcoholic varieties? Is "every Wednesday" simply not enough for you? Behold! Boston Poetry Slam has a monthly slam series at the Sam Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plain, appropriately named "Slam Adams."
Slam Adams is every first Monday of the month, from 6-8pm. It is slam-only, meaning no open mic. Cover is $4, but if you volunteer to judge you may get in free! Sign ups for the slam take place IN ADVANCE - if you would like to sign up, email [email protected].

About Boston Poetry Slam:
The core Boston Poetry Slam show runs at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, Mass. every Wednesday night, giving poets a chance to share their work in the open mic or slam and featuring a headlining poet or theme slam. Doors @7:15, show starts at 8pm. 21+. $4 cover (cash preferred, Venmo available). Follow our Instagram (below) for the most up-to-date info.
