Boston Area Yetzirah Salons feature Jewish poets who will read original work and participate in a Q&A at a private home. We welcome poetry lovers of all traditions.
Cynthia Bargar is the author of Sleeping in the Dead Girl’s Room, shortlisted for the 2023 Massachusetts Book Award. Her chapbook, Inside the Snake Farm, will be out in 2027 from Lily Poetry Review Press. Her poems have appeared in Sugar House Review, SWWIM, Ocean State Review, On the Seawall, Lily Poetry Review, Nixes Mate, Verse Daily, The Last Milkweed Anthology (Tupelo), and elsewhere. Cynthia is poetry co-editor at Pangyrus. She lives in Provincetown, MA.
Ilan Mochari is the author of the poetry collection Playthings and the novel Zinsky the Obscure. Ilan’s poems, short stories, and essays have appeared or are forthcoming in The Cincinnati Review, McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern, Salamander, Hobart, Solstice, and elsewhere. His work has been nominated for multiple Pushcart Prizes as well as the Derringer Award for crime fiction, and he has been the recipient of a Literature Artist Fellowship grant from the Somerville Arts Council.
This event is inspired by Yetzirah: A Hearth for Jewish Poetry, the first national literary organization dedicated to fostering and supporting a community space for Jewish poets, nourishing writers and readers of Jewish poetry now and for generations to come.
