Join us on November 23, 2025, for an afternoon of Jewish poetry. Through our shared love of language and our belief in the healing power of words, we can create community, take care of one another, and honor our vulnerability and humanity. We welcome poetry lovers of all traditions.

Boston Area Yetzirah Salons feature local Jewish poets who will read original work and participate in a Q&A. Attendees are encouraged to purchase the poet's book (if available) and to schmooze with one another, helping to create and grow a thriving and welcoming Jewish poetry scene in the Boston Area. Snacks, coffee and tea, and fruit will be provided — no need to bring anything unless you want to! 

Donna Spruijt-Metz’s second collection is To Phrase a Prayer for Peace (Wildhouse Publishing, 2025). Her debut poetry collection is General Release from the Beginning of the World (Free Verse Editions, 2023). Her chapbooks include Slippery Surfaces, And Haunt the World (with Flower Conroy), and Dear Ghost (winner, 2023 Harbor Review Editor’s prize). Her translation from the Dutch of Lucas Hirsch’s Wu Wei Eats an Egg (Ben Yehuda press) and her full-length collaboration with Flower Conroy, And Scuttle My Ballon (Picture Show Press) were both released in 2025. Her poems appear or are forthcoming in The Academy of American Poets, Tahoma Literary Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, The American Poetry Review, and elsewhere. She’s a MacDowell Fellow, emeritus psychology professor, rabbinical school drop-out, and former classical flutist. She gets restless.

This event is inspired by Yetzirah: A Hearth for Jewish Poetry, the first national literary organization dedicated to fostering and supporting a community space for Jewish poets, nourishing writers and readers of Jewish poetry now and for generations to come.
