Boston Area Yetzirah Salons feature local Jewish poets who will read original work and participate in a Q&A at a private home. We welcome poetry lovers of all traditions.
Susan Comninos is a widely published poet and author of Out of Nowhere (SFA Press/Texas A&M, 2022). Her poems have appeared in the Harvard Review Online, Rattle, The Common, Prairie Schooner, and North American Review, among others. Since 2017, she’s taught writing to undergraduates at Siena College, The College of St. Rose, and SUNY Albany, as well as to adults in the community and through online platforms like Ritualwell. She is currently the poetry editor of Judith magazine and is at work on a second book of poems, Wild Joy of Receiving. The title poem is forthcoming in the Terrapin Books anthology The Color Wheel this spring.
Roberta Eve Tovey is a writer, editor, and poet. A former assistant professor of literature at Clark University with a doctorate in British literature from Princeton, she now serves as director of communications and operations at the psychology department of a major Boston hospital. She has written poetry since youth, but only this past year has started to submit it for publication. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Consequence, Muleskinner Journal, Comstock Review, Minyan Magazine, Lips Poetry Magazine, and other journals.
This event is inspired by Yetzirah: A Hearth for Jewish Poetry, the first national literary organization dedicated to fostering and supporting a community space for Jewish poets, nourishing writers and readers of Jewish poetry now and for generations to come.
