Boston Area Yetzirah Salons feature Jewish poets who will read original work and participate in a Q&A at a private home. We welcome poetry lovers of all traditions. 

Julie R. Enszer, PhD, is a scholar, editor, and poet. She is the author of six poetry collections: The Lamed-Vovniks (Indolent Books, 2026), The Pinko Commie Dyke with illustrations by Isabel Paul (Indolent Books, 2024), Avowed (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2016), Lilith’s Demons (A Midsummer Night’s Press, 2015), Sisterhood (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2013) and Handmade Love (A Midsummer Night’s Press, 2010). She edits and publishes Sinister Wisdom, a multicultural lesbian literary and art journal, and is a regular book reviewer for the Jewish Book Council. Joelle Maxx Milman is a writer, poet, and translator of Modern and Biblical Hebrew. Repartings, her debut book of poetry, was published in 2026 by Ben Yehuda press. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Spectra, The Adroit Journal, Barnacle Goose, and elsewhere. Joelle has worked extensively in activist and solidarity spaces, notably as lead English writer at Breaking the Silence. A graduate of Barnard College and Hebrew University, Joelle has served as the Poet-In-Residence at Der Nister LA and taught creative writing classes internationally. She has lived in Los Angeles, New Jersey, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem. She is based between Brooklyn and the Blue Ridge Mountains. https://joellemaxx.com/

This event is inspired by Yetzirah: A Hearth for Jewish Poetry, the first national literary organization dedicated to fostering and supporting a community space for Jewish poets, nourishing writers and readers of Jewish poetry now and for generations to come.
