Happy Spring! Happy Fresh Start!

Hello!

Happy Spring! Happy New Astrological Year! Happy Q2!

However you label this time of year, rebirth is in the air.

This past winter was incredibly difficult for my family. I'm very ready for a fresh start. As storytellers and professional creatives, we have little control. Our uncertain industry feels more uncertain than ever. But choosing to start is always in our control—how we begin page one, embark on a new goal, or clear space in our lives for our art. We're in charge of our beginnings.

This past month, I helped fellow writers:

  • Outline a new draft of a half-hour pilot.

  • Research and create a target list of reps.

  • Refine a short film script.

  • Prepare for two general meetings.

What can I help you begin in April?

60-Minute Sessions Now Available!

I now offer 60-minute coaching sessions. Though there’s never been a 90-minute session in which we ran out of conversation, I hope this session offers writers some flexibility.

30-Minute Sessions Are Available Too!

This is perfect for longtime clients who would like to schedule time for a quick question or check-in.

New Half-Hour Pilot Developmental Coaching!

I redesigned my half-hour TV developmental feedback to include a 90-minute Zoom session with written feedback on a first draft PLUS written feedback on an outline and a second draft. This is great for writers who want in-depth, one-on-one feedback.

New Half-Hour TV Script Coverage!

I now offer classic written coverage for half-hour TV scripts for writers who want feedback on one draft.

Bimonthly Support Group Coaching

I would love to create a sense of community among clients and be available for questions and issues that may arise in between sessions. This twice-a-month, two-hour support group would act as office hours with the opportunity to meet and support other writers. Writers can come to ask for help with a logline, figure out comps, run a short pitch, ask any career questions, share any wins, or vent any vents with the group. Folks can come and go during the session and join in even if they don't have questions. As our attendance grows, I could invite industry guests for a Q&A. We could also use some of this time for co-working writing sprints.

But first, I want to hear from you! Reply to this e-mail to let me know if this is something you would be interested in.

This is an amazing real-world look into the day and lifestyle of a working TV writer. It's full of pearls of practical wisdom about how to navigate the creative and interpersonal demands of the job. A must-read for every emerging TV writer.

Testimonials

"I highly recommend Laura Mannino as a screenwriting coach. It was extremely difficult for me to focus on writing last year. Having Laura Mannino's guidance with making attainable writing goals helped me through life's highs and lows and gave me hope and motivation. Laura is a therapist, cheerleader, and coach all rolled into one, and with her support, I feel confident to slay those writing goals." –Veronica Chavira, Feature Drama

"When I signed up for the Austin Film Festival Pitch Competition, I had no idea how to prepare or what to do. Another screenwriter connected me with Laura; I’ve worked with her ever since. She was instrumental in guiding me and encouraging me as I prepared for AFF. Then, she assisted me in writing a pitch deck for another script and developing a written pitch for Netflix. I couldn’t imagine doing any of this without her!" –Rangeley Wallace, TV Drama
