I’m a real slut for a new beginning, and Lunar New Year feels like the energetic start of the year. I’ve released myself from the manufactured pressure to pull my shit together on January 1, a mere week after Christmas, when it’s basically dark after breakfast.
I treat January as a soft launch. What do I want to start? What do I want to finish? What no longer serves me? What excites me? What’s just not gonna happen?
In the first six weeks of the year, I started a new draft of my supernatural comedy feature and jotted down ideas for a rom-com. I’m also writing a 10-episode sample in a vertical writing class and submitting my audio drama to festivals.
I’ve also screened short TV pitches for a pitch competition. More soon on my thoughts on what makes a great pitch.
