A potpourri of action, inspiration, and wisdom
Hello! Happy Summer!

I added lots of treasures to Bold Type’s Resource List. These new additions range from the woo-woo to practical advice to showbiz wisdom and history to political advocacy.
Some new additions:
Chani App’s 28-Day Breakthrough Course
Freaks, Gleeks, and Dawson’s Creek by Thea Glassman
Safety Bound: Call Your Sheriff
They Went Another Way by Bruce Eric Kaplan
Writing the Romantic Comedy by Billy Mernit
More importantly, there’s two full pages of immigration protection and mutual aid organizations.
If you’re enraged and heartbroken about what’s happening to our neighbors and loved ones in LA and across the country and have no idea where to start, I hope this can be a helpful first step.
I love this!

There’s so much to feel out of control about, but we can control how we speak to ourselves and others about our careers. This is why I love Jeane Phan Wang’s recent Writing & Wellness Substack post, “Swag Out.”
“Why not be the writer who “swags out?” Everyone else is probably going to be talking about how “times are weird” or bringing up the “contraction.” Be the writer in a meeting who peacocks a little. Maybe that’s how one can stand out in the marketplace. Maybe that extra puffing of the chest is what I can do to put myself over the top. Let your excitement get others excited.”

How do you want to feel by the end of the year?
At the most recent Bold Ones Support Group meeting, we shared what we’re most proud of so far in 2025 and how we want to feel by the end of the year.
What gets us excited?
What doesn’t serve us anymore?
What actions can we take to move us toward how we want to feel about ourselves by the end of 2025?

“What I love most about our Bold Ones Support Group is that it’s NOT a space where we exchange scripts. Instead, we focus on setting goals, rooting for each other, and working through the unique challenges of the screenwriting life, which could otherwise feel ridiculous and lonely. Our fantastic leader, Laura, is a sparkly fountain of advice and encouragement.” -Jeanée Ledoux, Feature Writer
