I’m reading the latest issue of Fiyah right now and this tongue-in-cheek vampire story was just what I needed. Carolyn has been recently turned into a vampire – and she didn’t expect that one of the first things older vampires would ask her would be to direct a DEI program. Be the Token Diverse Person whose task is to go upset her senior colleagues – familiar much?
Carolyn sucked in a breath. “Are you hiring me... for your very first diversity, equity, and inclusion program... because I’m bla—”
“You may have noticed that our community is, regrettably, rather homogenous,” Demetri interjected quickly.
This story features all too many realistic situations for having an all-vampire cast. I laughed out loud at the end, but it was a bitter laugh!
Take care,
Bogi.
