Let’s start the new recommendations series with a debut! This is Tia Tashiro’s first story, and one of my big surprises of 2023. It’s a science-based near-future piece (almost novelette length) from an author who works in a neurobiology lab, and it shows; the science is great and believable, but the character work and the storytelling are also exemplary. It’s just good all round – I can’t wait to read more from Tia Tashiro.
