Root, Arcs maker Leder Games in talks for video game of ‘one of its IPs’, comics also potentially in the works
Plus: CMON’s COO David Preti is resigning after eight years at the company

The video game to board game adaptation route is now a well trodden thing, with the current Kickstarter campaign for Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game - $6.4m raised and counting - showing just how much appetite there is for tabletop versions of digital titles. It’s much rarer for tabletop games to make the reverse jump to the digital space, outside of direct digital adaptations - but Root and Arcs publisher Leder Games is in talks to do exactly that with one of its IPs, BoardGameWire has learned. We’ll have a full Q&A based on our two hour chat with company founder Patrick Leder in a future newsletter, but in the meantime you can hear about the company’s hopes for expanding its game worlds into comics, film and more.
We’re in the calm before the storm before the gargantuan Spiel Essen game fair kicks off in two weeks, but news is out there for those who look. There’s a big change at the top for Zombicide publisher CMON, for example, with chief operating officer David Preti resigning after eight years at the company, having overseen big changes in how the miniatures and crowdfunding-focused publishing major operates.

Root, Arcs maker Leder Games in talks for video game of ‘one of its IPs’, comics also potentially in the works
Leder Games, the publisher of acclaimed strategy board games including Root and Arcs, is in talks over a video game set in the universe of one of its titles, less than two weeks after putting out a call on Twitter for ideas about getting its designs into other types of media. Company founder Patrick Leder also told BoardGameWire that while progress on a potential Root movie remains “quite stop and start”, the company is in discussions over comic book adaptations of its various games after being approached about licensing by a comics publisher.
CMON’s COO David Preti is resigning after eight years at the company
Zombicide publisher CMON is losing its chief operating officer David Preti after the 54-year-old handed in his resignation last week, citing unnamed "other work commitments". Preti currently oversees game development and production at CMON, the miniatures-focused board game studio which has seen huge success over the last decade with multimillion-dollar Kickstarters for titles such as Marvel Zombies, Rising Sun, Bloodborne: The Board Game and several editions of its Zombicide franchise.
