day one-hundred-and-SAILING
Ellen here. Guess I was the only one up for writing a blog entry last night…
Our cotter pins may be creative, but the prop is on and spinning, and we are happily not using it (but we could if we wanted to!). Elated to be running dead downwind in calm seas, the gennaker and the main out wing-on-wing, which is maybe a bit wacky but I at least am having fun fussing and tweaking and steering by feel, and we are making 6 kts in 10-12 kts of wind as an orange new moon sliver chases the sunset colors past the horizon - Bluebird is such a dream. Bittersweet, as these are my last sailing watches for now, these next few days tracing the southern stars arching into the Polynesian sea. Which wind will take me next, and where?
