HappyDays – Week ThirtyFive
Coming down to the wire of the end of the school year and work before summer break.
Coming down to the wire of the end of the school year and there were a mix of final sports exams and also relaxed fun days at school because all the tests and reports have finished with positive notes for him and a promise to work hard next year in group seven.
I realized that I only had two weeks before leaving on summer break, so worked hard to get a lot of projects finished. One project is that I launched a newsletter for Internet Archive Europe. July 7 – Day 240
David took his karate exam with all the other students to get his half-yellow belt. He had to know how to count to five in Japanese and then also do all the choreographed moves correctly and spa with partners without contact. He leveled up and we are super proud of him. Go David go!
July 8 – Day 241
Some days it’s not as easy to find things to be super excited about or grateful for. That’s when you find gratitude in the simple things in life. We are blessed to have healthy food to feed us.
July 9 – Day 242

Led a walk around MaximaPark with the IWCU women’s group and summer is gorgeous. If I’m right, these are Hollyhock flowers.
July 10 – Day 243
We went on a date to see the Uruguayan band “No Te Va Gustar” on their 30th year world tour. We got a wonderful babysitter for our son and drove up to a Park & Ride in AMS. The show was incredible! The music and the crowd’s energy were infectious and you couldn’t help but getting caught up - just glad that we were in the balcony above because the mosh pit down below was chaotic!
We surprisingly and happily ran into friends from our neighborhood and ended up staying all together throughout the evening - even giving a ride back home.
The lighting technician created a living breathing work of art during the concert. July 10th happened to be his birthday and so the crowd joined in and sung him Feliz Cumpleaños while he blushed, not being used to attention. However, we went up to him afterwards to specifically tell him what an incredible job he did. Normally lighting is there and you don’t really “notice” it, but he created such a beautiful atmosphere and show it stuck out and we had to congratulate him on his talent and work.
Throwback to July 10 when we were lucky enough to see the band “No Te Va Gustar” in concert at the “Melkweg” concert hall in Amsterdam. The crowd went nuts for this classic song “Tan Lejos” - the crowd’s energy was infectious.

July 11 – Day 244
The big beautiful full moon - so tiny in the distance on the phone camera - sat at the end of the row of dark trees and lit street lamps and graced the sky with its orange light. I came home late at night from an evening at the spa with a friend and the moon was so beautiful that when I parked at home, I went inside, grabbed Santi to walk to the end of our street and see the full moon on the horizon together.
July 12 – Day 245

Happy birthday Dad!
My father’s 82nd birthday and this year we didn’t celebrate together as we have the past two years. But I successfully got presents delivered in time. Small victories! So often, I fail at timely delivery, even though my loved ones are always on my mind and in my heart. I was happy to have Mum help me wrap the gifts and give them in person.
July 13 – Day 246
Pica sunned himself in the warmth of the front garden tiles. Sometimes life doesn’t get any better than this and it’s perfect.
Here’s one of the songs from the concert: “Tan Lejos” (So far away). The studio version is so much “cleaner” than the concert as pretty much the whole crowd was singing/yelling along and the incredible energy was impossible to ignore.
No quiero volver a tu lado
No quiero volver a tu lado
Cantando, gritando
