Happy Days – Week TwentyNine
I dove back into swimming, tackled laundry with my 'emotional support' cat, and organized various projects for work and the community.
Getting close to the end of May - time is flying by - whoosh! Slow down please!
May 26 – Day 198
It felt so good to get back into the pool. My schedule had gotten off kilter with work and days off. This time I left home earlier than normal at 7:30 instead of after school drop off at 8:15 so I could finish earlier and not start my work day so late. I am decidedly not a morning person but life keeps on pushing me to go to bed early and wake up early - I guess everything changes over time.
The rest of the day, I did a lot of work, and a LOT of laundry - three full loads - at the end of the day I had a huge pile on the bed and Pica helped me fold the laundry while I watched a show to help me get through the mind-numbing routine of folding all the laundry. As you can see, Pica was “very helpful”. 😀
May 27 – Day 199
I spent the day in Amsterdam sorting things out for work and had this nice view out the window over the Amstel. The weather has turned rainy and the plants are happy, but it was nice and cozy in the office.
Meanwhile in London Mum was having a book reading event in Primrose Hill. It seems like it was a great success. I was sorry to miss it, but glad that so many friends and loved ones were there. Taghi took some photos he graciously shared. I have been reading it and it’s really good. But don’t take my word for it - read the review from Kirkus Reviews.

May 28 – Day 200

Our son had a fun-filled day at school. There was “sports day” in the morning and then a festival at school in the afternoon. I volunteered to help setup after school and David did a great job helping as well.
May 29 – Day 201
Thursday was a public holiday - Hemelvaart - which celebrates the Ascension of Jesus up into Heaven. So, no school and no work. Us girlfriends got together that evening for our “lady’s night” where we typically eat sushi, drink wine and catch up with each other. It was lovely as always.
May 30 – Day 202

Friday there was no school for David, but there was work for us. But none of us were feeling very well (David and Santi more poorly than myself), so we all took it pretty easy. One bright spot was the continuing of my learning streak with Duolingo. Just practicing a little bit every day helps.
May 31 – Day 203

I have been helping to organize the “No Kings” event in Amsterdam on June 14th. We are calling it “No Tyrants” since the government here is a Constitutional Monarchy. This past week the organization really came together and we have the event listed on six different websites, so it will be very findable online.
Seeing the "No Kings" June 14th protests in Europe gives me faith in humanity. The map of North America is just a sea of blue dots with millions standing up to authoritarianism. Find a protest near you and get your activism on. Where ever you are in the world, please stay engaged and safe.

Pretty sure my sign will be this Turkish proverb: “When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king. The palace turns into a circus.“
June 1 – Day 204
Sunday it was my turn to feel a bit more poorly, luckily Santi was feeling a bit better and he made this beautiful lunch out of chorizo sausages we were going to share over the weekend with friends, but we had to cancel in order to rest.
Thinking about resting and wanting time to slow down - listen to this classic by Billy Joel. Breathe and enjoy.
Great FULL week Bea. (It's June 14 th not July 14 ) I think mxm
Thanks Mum and yes - indeed the event is June 14. I fixed the archived version.
