Happy Days – Week Thirty

Celebrating family, food, art, and fun at concerts and parades this week!

Just diving right in this week…

June 2 – Day 205

Yummy and healthy lunch – Day 205

Another full work day at home and as Santi still wasn’t feeling 100% we got to hang out at home together. Normally he goes into the office on Mondays, so this was a nice change. I made the “Crisp” meal of Caesar Salad. It is a service which brings you ingredients and recipes for meals for the week. It takes the hassle out of meal planning for at least three dinners per week which makes me very happy.

Visiting the Rijksmuseum – Day 206

Our son’s class visited the famed Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam on a class field trip. They got to see the Milkmaid by Vermeer, the Night Watch by Rembrandt and many other famed and illustrious art works. I didn’t go on the trip, but it makes me so happy that they have this available to them at school.

Santi usually makes two loaves of bread a week, and this time he made one perfect loaf for David’s school lunches. We are such a lucky family.

That evening, again in Primrose Hill, another event took place, this time an interview with my father about his book. Walter Murch in conversation with Edith Bowman on “The Languages of Film Editing and Sound Design”. Taghi Amirani shared his photos of the event, I am so grateful he is there to support my parents’ work.

June 5 – Day 208

A small boat with passengers heads through the canal underneath the tunnel under the Hoog Catherlijn Shopping Mall. There is a huge pride flag on the shopping mall window. There are yellow and purple flowers on the riverbank in the foreground.

Thursday, I went into Utrecht to meet up with a colleague for work and this pretty idyllic scene greeted me on the way to the cafe.

June 6 – Day 209

Santi and I went on a wonderful evening out with another friend to the Manu Chau concert in Nijmegen. I took some fun shots, but these concert photos are beautiful - have a look. There was a double rainbow in the beginning of the concert as it rained but not too badly. We slowly made our way closer towards the stage over the course of the evening and met up with even more Argentines from Nijmegen. We ended up getting home at 2 am. That is the latest we’ve been out in years! Fun times even if a bit of a babysitter mishap. It all worked out and everyone was fine.

A woman looks back at the camera. She is standing in a crowd of people. The sun is shining as raindrops fall over the crowd at the concert.

June 7 – Day 210

Saturday was the Pride boat parade in Utrecht and I met up with friends to watch along one of the main canals. It was raining in the beginning, but everyone was prepared - this is the Netherlands and we had a fun afternoon watching the boats and people enjoying themselves.

A row of people under umbrellas stand next to the canal in Utrecht. A police boat comes up the canal as people look on.

June 8 – Day 211

After a weekend full of excitement, we had a chill day at home on Sunday. I had picked a bunch of raspberries and strawberries from our garden and inspired by reading a recipe in my mum’s book, I veered from that and made berry bran muffins.

Two small bowls next to each other. White ceramic bowl is filled with small strawberries, the metallic bowl is filled with raspberries.

A whole new Manu Chau album to discover - so glad we went to the concert.
