Happy Days – Week FortySeven
Family reunion to celebrate our Libra birthday guys in late September - early October.
Think back - way back - to late September and early October! We had wonderful family-reunion time as David celebrated his 10th birthday with Granny and Grandpa and Tía Mecha. Such precious times together.
September 29 – Day 324

We had professional family portraits done three years after our last session and it was super sweet. Inge from By Birdy Photography is a wonderful woman and photographer. Most of them included David, but this one was just me and my folks and I love it.
That evening Santi did a run through of his talk that he was going to give later that week at an internal conference at work. He explained the pros and cons of three different programming languages (Kotlin, Go & Python) and why one might want to use each one for various projects.
September 30 – Day 325
David is 10!!! He wanted to celebrate with a grown-up dinner out and this nearby restaurant didn’t disappoint. A leisurely two hours from start to finish with delicious food and drink and a fantastic birthday dessert.
October 1 – Day 326
Wednesday morning, Mecha, I and a friend went for a lovely brisk walk through MaximaPark. The sun is starting to rise later and later.
Santi successfully gave his talk at work. Yay! Super proud of him and his professional growth over the years at bol.com He has moved from Senior to Expert programmer, has lead several development projects and had his suggested talk “upvoted” enough by his peers to give it in front of about 100 people.
October 2 – Day 327
My parents left back to England after a short and sweet visit and my father left one of his favorite books at the B&B, so I went by and picked it up.
October 3 – Day 328
I got my COVID vaccine and while I haven’t worn a mask in a long time, the last time I got my vaccine a year before, I got COVID there and was in bed for two months once again, so I masked up this time and came away protected and unscathed! Go science.
October 4 – Day 329
Saturday was spent preparing for Santi’s birthday party and we had a lovely chill Argentine day where Mecha and David made “chocotorta” for Santi’s birthday party. Think a lasagna cake where the layers are chocolate cookies dipped in mocha and then in between is a mixture of cream cheese and dulce de leche and that is repeated over and over till the pan is full.
October 5 – Day 330
We had a wonderful afternoon for Santi’s birthday celebrated a bit before. He made “sandwiches de miga” which is like an Argentine version of British finger sandwiches but there are certain required food combinations. This was the beginning of the “Primavera” (Spring).

I got everyone to band together to give him one nice gift - a computer for his road bike rides so that he doesn’t get lost and can keep track of all the stats. One happy man.
It’s cold and getting dark here in the Netherlands - I’m wrapped up warmly in bed with Pica at my side and listening to this relaxing piece by “Little Soul”.
Such a lovely full week of family time. Glad Renoir is safely with you. mxm
