Spooky Season Spooktacular 2024
Looking back on the season.
When I first announced this event back in September, I thought it was going to be much easier than it turned out to be. As it happens, writing two blog posts a week while also going to school, doing all sorts of events and projects, and being in the rehearsal process of a play is very hard. As evidenced by the fact that Young Frankenstein came out two days late, and I almost didn’t write the first The Wolf Man post at all. However, despite the odds, I did all of the posts I meant to in October (Nine! Nine whole posts in one month!), which leads me to consider this year’s Spooky Season Spooktacular a success. But I am going to make some changes for next year.
First, there will be about half the posts next year that there were this year, with just one a week (which is still a lot, I would like to point out). This means that they will likely be much better, as they won’t be as rushed. This year I wrote several of the posts on the day they came out, which I do not recommend, and resulted in lower quality writing than I would have liked.
Second, there will be, of course, a different theme. This year’s theme of Universal Monsters was a lot of fun, and fascinating to write about. I picked it because first of all, it’s almost as old as horror movies get, which fits the overarching theme of this blog. And second of all, there is a reader of So Desensitized who was instrumental in its creation who I knew would love it (Sean Volk of the Fargo Theatre, hi Sean!). I’m very glad I picked this theme, but I’m going to change it up a little for next year in that you, the readers, are going to vote on next years theme!
Your options are:
Trick Or Treat (Set on Halloween Night)
Haunted Houses
An Excellent Day For An Exorcism (Exorcisms/Possessions)
Hocus Pocus (Witch Movies)
Write which one you want in the comments!
Finally, I want to thank you all for coming with me and the Universal Monsters for this year’s spooky season. It really means a lot to have a group of people that I know will read my writing, even if it comes in a constant stream of rambling. Thanks for taking part in this event so much.
Regular post scheduling will resume soon, with my next post coming out on November 15, then get a little messed up in December with a Friday the 13th and Christmas in there.
Thanks for reading, stay spooky, and comment the theme you want for next year!
