shout out to
shannon barber and
the void academy for sending newsletters that ive needed at just the right time.
all of my saved notes start this way so this is how i'll start this
consider this,
i just am not the biggest fan of
go check me out here! bc it makes me feel like im at my house waiting for people to show up and look at something i made when instead i could make a newsletter and basically leave what ive made on your doorstep and you can decide to take it or leave it and i still get to be in my house. its a win-win for everybody!
this is my aim:
- to share what i've been working on
- to share what successfully helped me procrastinate
- what's wrong/right/neutral/up and how i'm getting through that (or maybe just staying in it a little longer til i figure it out) (which will hopefully help you get through it too)
- scattered notes (honestly i just don't want all these screenshots and saved links to go to waste.)
cheers!
for 7/10/18
i'm working on:
- moving my notes from wonderbook by jeff vandermeer (one of my favorite books ever/already this is a great idea because i had no idea tHERE IS A REVISED AND EXTENDED EDITION BLESS) into a document so i can access it easier
- a submission for gothic novel jam (it's open to all kinds of creative media, stories, art, etc. so if you like this theme i suggest submitting something!)
- working on notes from my editor so i can pitch and write better articles for autostraddle
- setting up my powershell after going through multiple iterations of terminals and text editors after accidentally uninstalling and deleting my ubuntu on windows (ive settled on powershell/gedit/xming for my work)
- working through shonda rhimes' masterclass
what has successfully helped me procrastinate:
- seasons 8-10 of adventure time (mathematical!)
- the new steven universe
- losing and finding my wacom tablet pen
- mastodon
- knowing i will never reach the end of my pocket
- going to the pool to exercise instead of physical therapy and tuckering myself the fuck out
what's wrong/right/neutral/up:
- ive had some people make comments about how much money i make/work/my potential in comparison to others and its been getting me down so im going to the mystics vs dream game tomorrow so i can just be alone without going into a depression spiral (i got the season league pass so i can watch most of the games on my phone but i haven't been in the arena since middle school when i used to cut out coupons from kids' post and i'm so excited to go!!!!)
- i'm getting through stuff by listening to mal blum's everytime you go somewhere, reading fanfic, and trying to talk in group chats. how about you?
scattered notes:
- my favorite apps this week are notion (which has helped with planning and executing writing and code projects) and milanote (which kept me organized for winter tangerine's workshop)
- are you ready for hanif abdurraqib's new project (he talks about it a little after the poem)? i've been ready since i finished the crown ain't worth much and i keep refreshing twitter waiting for a link tbh
- if you're like me and just wanted to focus on the gossip and weren't paying attention to your uncles and cousins during the cookout please enjoy this thread where in yet another example of black people being amazing, he tells us how to play spades so we can stop embarrassing ourselves.
play one of my favorite games, butterfly soup! it's gay and wonderful and free!
