Welcome to the
Miscellaneous Materials Reading Club Collection MM017.
Season 2 of Miscellaneous Materials continues. I am still going through all the stuff I collected in 2020 — but never sent!!! This is the 017th collection of semi-random documents known as “Miscellaneous Materials” — there are few more of these oldies left, and then I'm onto more recent collections. Stay tuned.
Current CO2 PPM: 414.55 ppm
(Optimally we need to get back down to at least 350, but in a more perfect world 275ppm or even lower!)
A Featured Request:
Do you have 10 minutes to spare?
One of my students is looking for volunteers to test their thesis prototype! The project is called “Stories Apart,” a platform for oral storytelling aimed at creating a safe, inclusive online space to share meaningful stories with a chosen community. You can help by visiting →

If you don't have the time to participate, consider sharing this link with your followers, friends, or family! The more responses they collect, the more inclusive and user-friendly they can make the site!
Thanks. Onto the collection.
MM017 was collected over May and June of 2020 — now coming at you in April 2021. Frankly, I have no memory of collecting any of these documents this time around... But! in looking back into the folder, woah, there are some cool things here. There is a lot here about sustainability in art and design; some old and new ideas around climate change; some alternate takes on design history and aesthetics; an old essay of Buckminster Fuller's; Some thoughts on "Mediatization" and "Time" in understanding design and formalisms; and some other general things that fell into my lap while looking around this great big wide world web … whew.
So! Get to reading, and as always, let me know what you found interesting.
