Projects at Bishop FM - Zoom Meeting on 29/10/2024
Dear member,
It’s great to see several new members join the station in the last few months. As members have offered to help in addition to a show at the station, next week there will be an online meeting to discuss several possible projects and opportunities and see if members are interested in taking on a new responsibility on their own or as part of a team. It will also be a chance for new and existing members to meet.
The meeting will be on Zoom on Tuesday 29th October 2024 at 7.00pm, lasting for around one hour.
There have been some projects and features that were previously launched, or were planned but then didn’t go ahead, and there now be may an opportunity to revisit these as well as new ideas.
Some of the projects that could be launched or restarted are:
Local music coverage
How can we expand the coverage of local music on the station, particularly in daytime and online?
What can be done to improve the events diary and encourage more local artists to send us their gigs?
Can we restart the Local Artist of the Week feature - see https://www.bishopfm.com/music/
Community engagement
We previously broadcast 'community content' in automation - can we restart this feature and reach out to all the local groups and organisations and remind them of the different ways they can use Bishop FM to let the community know what they are doing? (There is a web page here - https://www.bishopfm.com/community/)
Evenings & Weekends promotion
How can more be done to promote specialist music shows on air and on the website/social media?
The evening and weekend line-ups are currently quite full and sounding great. Could we look at a single sponsor for all of evenings and a sponsor for weekends as some other stations do?
Local business spot
It's excellent that we have John Atkinson's local business update in breakfast and drive-time during the week. Can we add to this, perhaps at the weekends, with interviews with local businesses? (There is a web page here where businesses can contact the station and we can post articles - https://www.bishopfm.com/business/)
These can all be beneficial for listeners so they can hear about things happening in South Durham. They are hopefully useful for those taking part, like local artists and community groups, using Bishop FM to promote what they are doing. New features also provide opportunities for businesses to support and sponsor local content.
It would be good to hear your ideas too and see if we can put into place some roles and/or teams to take them forward.
Kind regards,
James Burrage
